Eni said on 26 October that it had completed the sale of Agip Energy and Natural Resources (Nigeria) Limited, known as AENR, to Apex Global Energy Limited. APEX is wholly owned by Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company, according to the seller's announcement.

AENR's Nigerian onshore and shallow-water business includes a 5% interest in the Renaissance joint venture. Eni said the transaction had received the relevant authorities' approvals and formed part of its portfolio rebalancing.

The company said it would retain Nigerian deep-offshore exploration and development activities and its interest in Nigeria LNG. Its announcement did not disclose the consideration, an exact closing date or a new production target. The event date for this report is therefore the announcement date, not an independently established transaction-closing day.

FXRates.ng's interpretation is that the immediate development is a change in ownership of an existing upstream interest, rather than evidence of additional oil output. Future investment and operating performance will determine any wider production effect.

The disclosure also provides no basis for calculating a new foreign-exchange inflow or predicting a naira response. Completion and regulatory approval are reported here as Eni's statements; no separate regulator confirmation is cited.
